I’ve always loved ninja games, and I think that comes from an early exposure to the Ninja Gaiden series on the NES. As a child, I viewed the Ninja Gaiden series as my Everest. I don’t think I ever completed any of them, but they were always fun to me. I’ll never forget how awesome I thought the intro to the first Ninja Gaiden was – two ninjas in a field, bathed in moonlight, rushing towards each other, jumping, striking, one landing on their feet, the other in a crumpled heap. Ryu’s father laid dead on the ground, and I was tasked with getting revenge. I was hooked.

Originally announced in 2008, it seemed that Aliens: Colonial Marines might never see the light of day due to cancellations and other unforeseen circumstances. Criterion Games was originally handed the keys to the Need for Speed franchise when they did Hot Pursuit, giving the series a kickstart to get back in gear after becoming stale for far too long. It appears that time has come once again, and Criterion is tasked with bringing the Need for Speed franchise back into the spotlight after EA beat the series down with yearly iterations.

If you’re a Zen Pinball player, chances are you know how much better the interface for Zen Pinball is on the Xbox 360 counterpart known as Pinball FX. When Pinball FX was upgraded to Pinball FX 2, they got a huge overhaul including becoming an all-in-one hub that held all of your tables as well as allowed you check scores and keep up for fierce competition amongst friends. As PS3 owners sat back and weeped gently because Xbox clearly had the superior version, Zen Studios shot a beacon light to PlayStation users saying “Worry not, PS3 users. We got your back and you’ll be getting the same great experience very soon.” That time is now, and with Zen Pinball 2, the PS3 version is once again superior. Continue Reading…
