Metal Gear is certainly no stranger to stories that tend to spiral out of control resulting in a chaotic mess that can be at times harder to watch than it is to follow, but Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance may possibly be one of the most motley entries thus far to the Metal Gear canon. Taking place several years after Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Metal Gear Rising has so little to do with previous Metal Gear entries that it’s mind-boggling how this game could possibly be canonical. Taking the franchise in a completely different direction, Hideo Kojima steps back in order to let Platinum Games take the reins. Does the Bayonetta developer have what it takes to lead Metal Gear into a new genre?

Review: Anarchy Reigns

As a fan of Platinum Games work, I’ve been eagerly anticipating the release of Anarchy Reigns for quite some time now. Bayonetta is one of my favorite action games, and I really enjoyed the unique feel of Vanquish even though it’s yet another 3rd person cover based shooter. Because Anarchy Reigns is essentially a sequel to Madworld, Platinum’s 2009 Wii brawler, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect but knew I’d likely have some fun checking it out. Was I right? Is Anarchy Reigns fun, even if you didn’t play Madworld?

While I’m not as much of a seasoned veteran in the MOBA genre as others, I play a ridiculous amount of League of Legends and I’ve also put some time into Valve’s DOTA 2. When I heard that WB was bringing a MOBA game based on the Lord of the Rings franchise, I was already interested – but to find out it was a MOBA to be played on consoles put me over the edge. I knew I had to get my hands on it, even if it was the worst game ever made. Is Guardians of Middle-earth the worst game ever made or is in a league of its own?
