Still on the fence about Bioshock 2?

If you’re like every other gamer on the internet, you’re a bit unsure of a game attempting to improve upon one of the highest-rated games of the last ten years. The first Bioshock was an experience unlike no other – the city of Rapture, complete with its demented Splicers, Big Daddies, Little Sisters, and the omnipresent Andrew Ryan – and with pretty solid gameplay to boot.

Don’t worry too much about Bioshock 2, people. In a conference call with 2K Marin last week, we were assured time and time again by the team that the single-player experience is just as it was the first time around, only with a little tweakage. In 2K’s opinion, they modified the few problems  that slowed down gameplay in the first iteration – hacking’s faster, plasmids and weapons dual-wielded.

And yes, there is multiplayer. It follows its’ own story, and looks like the game modes are standard multiplayer fare with a sprinkle of Bioshock creepiness on top. A separate studio, Digital Extremes, was responsible for the multiplayer, which means 2K’s entire focus was on the single player.

On average, it’s reviewing quite well, receiving a 89% on Metacritic. So if you’re STILL on the fence, check GamingOgre for a review soon.
